ACCIDENT CLAIMS 23 LIVES IN KOGI

The FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu, condoled with the government and people of Kogi over the accident that claimed the lives of 30 people, most of them schoolchildren.

Aliyu, on Wednesday, in a statement by her Special Assistant on Media, Mr Austine Elemue, expressed shock over the death of the victims, especially the school children.

She expressed her sympathies to the government and people of Kogi, especially families of the victims of the inferno.

“I pray that in this difficult time, the love of God will continue to protect our people,” she said.

According to her, the tanker explosion as tragic while calling on the state to pray for the souls of the departed.

The minister also called on the people, especially students of the Polytechnic, to remain calm and peaceful, stressing that the government was aware of the gravity of the situation.

COVID-19: LAGOS STATE TO SHARE PALLIATIVES

Photo from Google By Emmanuel Olorunsola  Lagos State government has announced that it will commence distribution of 107,546 food palliative packs which were handed over to the state government by the Coalition Against COVID (CACOVID) for distribution to Lagosians. Governor Sanwo-Olu received the food items at the Lagos House, Alausa in the company of the deputy governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat; Chief of Staff (CoS), Mr Tayo Ayinde and the Acting Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya, among other state officials and representatives of CACOVID. The governor later distributed part of the items to some of the beneficiaries who were present at the ceremonial handover of the food palliatives. Speaking on behalf of the state government, the State Acting Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya, said the food items were meant for the indigent residents of the state and the elderly.
